Welcome to privacy at Pocketsomm, where enthusiasm for drinking great wine is met with a deep respect for personal privacy. Rooted deep in our culture is a belief that your privacy and the joy of discovering the perfect bottle of wine should go hand in hand. We're not just about helping you find the best value vino; we're also about ensuring that your data stays as personal as your wine preferences. Rest assured, we're committed to ensuring your data is never corked, spilled, or shared without your toast of approval.
At Pocketsomm, we believe in pouring transparency into every glass. We want you to sip with confidence, knowing how we handle your personal wine journeys and data: from the information we collect to the cellars where it's stored. Our goal? To explain our privacy policy as crisply as a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, with the depth of an well aged Bordeaux.

Our guiding principle is to collect only what we need. We do not process sensitive information.

When you reach out to us directly or otherwise choose to give us information
For example, when you share your concerns in a bug report or seek our help on the website or app, we'll gather the details you share to help find a solution. More specifically, if you report a bug through any of our support channels, we'll automatically identify your mobile device brand, operating system version and IP address just in case they're the culprits behind that pesky issue you're bringing to our attention.

We do NOT use cookies to track visitors to our website. To measure site traffic and for core site analytics, we use Google Analytics and are contractually obligated not to collect any other personal information or sell your data.
What information we collect about you and why
Under what conditions would we share your personal data?
We never sell your data, and we’ll only share it in the following circumstances:
- With our Service Providers, as needed to provide and improve the product. Service Providers are contractually required to only handle your data in ways that we specify, including being contractually prohibited from selling your data.
- If needed to meet our legal requirements or safety measures, or to enforce legal rights. See Why do we collect personal data? below for more.
- If there’s a change in Pocketsomm ownership such as a merger, acquisition, or bankruptcy, your data may be transferred to the new controlling party. Should one of these events occur, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you before your information becomes subject to different privacy and security policies and practices
Why do we collect personal data?
In general, we collect personal data to provide and improve our product services for you and the entire community. This includes data to make the App work (such as account information) or data to make the App better (such as Device or Product Usage Data). We also collect data to make sure we’re able to:
- Protect against fraud, or implement additional security measures.
- Communicate with you if you reach out with a bug report, support request, or general inquiry. We may also send you updates, product information, or other marketing communications.
- Meet legal requirements, safety measures, and enforce legal rights. We’re required to comply with any legal process, law, or regulation that requests we disclose personal information we’ve collected, so long as we consider the request reasonable and lawful. This includes:
- Enforcing our agreement terms or resolving disputes.
- Protecting your rights, property, or safety, or that of any party that interacts with our product.
How do we store and protect your data?
We do our best to protect the Personal Data we collect from any unauthorized parties accessing, using, or sharing it. We also ask you to help us out with protecting your data. Easy steps include creating a strong password and limiting access to your device and account credentials.
We hold on to Personal Data for as long as you have an account with us or up to 30 days after you delete your Pocketsomm Account. We’ll only hang on to it for longer if needed to meet our legal requirements discussed above, or if it’s anonymized so that it can’t be linked to a specific user like you.

- Pocketsomm uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS) to protect data in transit
- Pocketsomm files are encrypted at rest using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)
- SSL/TSL creates a secure tunnel protected by 128-bit or higher Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption
Are there age limits for who can use Pocketsomm?
As noted in the Beta User Agreement, we do not knowingly collect or solicit Personal Data about children under 21 years of age; if you are a child under the age of 21, please do not attempt to register for or otherwise use Pocketsomm Services or send us any Personal Data. Minimum Legal Drinking Age (MLDA) laws specify the legal age when an individual can purchase alcoholic beverages. The MLDA in the United States is 21 years and as such, we will never knowingly provide Product Services for any individual under the MLDA.
If we learn we have collected Personal Data from a child under 21 years of age, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that a child under 21 years of age may have provided Personal Data to us, please contact us at help@pocketsomm.app.
Updates to this Privacy Policy
At Pocketsomm, we're constantly refining our app and services to uncork the best experience for you. As a result, there may be occasions when we need to update this Privacy Policy. If such a situation arises, we'll raise it to your attention by posting a notice in the app and reach out to you directly, typically through email.
If you've opted out of receiving our legal notice emails (we totally understand) or haven't provided your email address to us initially, these policy updates will still apply. We'll do our utmost to bring these updates to your attention, but the last step is yours to make — make sure to read and understand them. If you continue to enjoy using Pocketsomm to find great wines for you and your party when you’re out, we'll assume you're on board with these updates.
